Fifty years of somatic experience guiding people home to their bodies through TRE, yoga, and counseling.

Lynea Gillen is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Yoga Teacher, and Global TRE™ Trainer who has spent 50 years developing somatic tools for human development. Her path into this work was personal before it was professional — early losses led her to seek answers in the body, and that search became a lifetime of practice as a schoolteacher, mental health counselor, and trainer.
Along the way, Lynea created the Yoga Calm for Children program, wrote award-winning books including Good People Everywhere and Little Book of Healing, and built a body of work grounded in one conviction: that developing emotional literacy, community, and resilience are inseparable from the body's own wisdom. When she found TRE through Dr. David Berceli's work, she recognized it as the practice that brought everything together.
For the past ten years, Lynea has trained professionals in TRE — counselors, yoga teachers, coaches, nurses, bodyworkers, educators — personally certifying more than sixty providers across the U.S. and internationally. She developed graduate-level TRE curricula at Portland State University and the University of the Pacific.
In every training and private session, Lynea brings the same quality: she sees each participant and draws out their gifts and strengths. Committed to develop the skills, confidence, and somatic intelligence that define thoughtful TRE facilitation, her vision is to create a worldwide community that truly celebrates the human spirit.

Lynea was personally mentored by Dr. David Berceli, TRE's founder. That relationship shaped everything about how she trains — the depth of her understanding of the tremoring process, her instinct for knowing when to guide and when to step back, and creativity in meeting the individual needs of each client.
Lynea also worked directly with Dr. Berceli to pioneer the online certification model now used by trainers worldwide. She continues to advance TRE continuing education with — Shaking out the Paradigm/Generational Trauma, The Trauma Story, Untangling Anger to TRE for Children & Teens — trainings that reflect a creative range that Certified TRE Providers around the world value. Lynea has a natural ability to engage with clients in a way that touches heart, mind, and body. Working with her through Yoga Calm and TRE has given me practical tools and a felt sense of safety to gently transform the impacts of childhood trauma. Her presence is grounded, compassionate, and deeply skillful, creating space for healing that is both stabilizing and profoundly empowering.

Lynea lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband Jim, their daughter Anna, and a playful Taco Terrier named Vader. When she's not training providers, counseling clients, or developing workshops, you'll find her hiking forest trails, making music, dancing, or gathered around a table with friends and family. The same presence she brings to a training room — warm, grounded, fully there — shows up in every part of her life.
