Moving Out of Freeze with TRE

When clients begin to emerge from a freeze response, the moment can be both powerful and delicate. As the nervous system comes back online, clients may experience disorientation, emotional intensity, or sudden waves of sensation. Without skillful support, this transition can become overwhelming—or lead back into shutdown.

When I first began working with clients in TRE I had a theory of coming out of freeze – and a general idea of how it was experienced. I have learned since that it can have many faces and nuances. I look forward to sharing and exploring with workshop participants how to effectively support clients during this critical phase using principles informed by David Berceli’s teachings and Porges’ Polyvagal Theory.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Recognize the signs of emerging from freeze
  • Support gentle, safe reactivation without overwhelm
  • Use titration, pacing and letting the client lead the process to regulate intensity
  • Build grounding and containment during vulnerable states
  • Develop support, community and referred, professional help
  • Track cues of dysregulation and respond in real time
  • Work with defense mechanisms
  • Facilitate integration for greater resilience and stability

Through guided TRE, discussion, and practical tools, you’ll gain confidence in navigating one of the most nuanced aspects of trauma-informed work. This training is ideal for TRE providers, therapists, bodyworkers, and anyone supporting nervous system regulation.

Participants will leave with a clear, embodied framework to help clients move from shutdown toward greater presence, connection, and flow.

Please join us for this opportunity to free yourself and your clients to live up to their potential.

Lynea’s tools were forged from her own path — early losses that led to a lifetime dedication to the human spirit as a counselor, clinician, and TRE trainer. She has certified more than sixty providers, developed graduate-level TRE curricula at several universities, and mentored with Dr. David Berceli.

Lynea’s Yoga Calm for Children program was developed in a behavior classroom in a rural Oregon elementary school 20 years ago and is now being used with tens of thousands of children around the world in diverse settings such as urban classrooms, clinics and psychiatric hospitals like the Mayo Clinic.

Developing emotional literacy, community, and resilience are the hallmarks of Lynea’s approach and are exemplified in her award-winning books and media: Yoga Calm for Children, Mindful Moments Cards, Good People Everywhere, Little Banty Chicken and her latest, Little Book of Healing: A Coloring Book for Grief and Loss.
